With over 30 years of experience in education, sales, programming, broadcasting, production, engineering, marketing, and management Gene Harris, Jr., MBA is considered by his peers to be an expert in these and several other fields. His career has thrived in some of the nation's major markets including New York City and Los Angeles; and other markets include San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas. He served for several years as a faculty member and an Area Chair for the College of Information Systems and Technology at the University of Phoenix, Nevada Campus. He is now a top performing Enrollment Counselor at the University of Phoenix, San Diego Campus.
Several nights a week he taught Communications, E-Business, Effective Writing and Philosophy courses from 2005 through early 2008 and then transferred to the San Diego Campus to be closer to his adult children. His vision and insight has given birth to one of the most advanced audio workstation units in existence today. He designed, along with Ed Efron, and built, installed, and integrated the prototype of the Efron Computerized Studios at Quantum Source Networks (QSN) in Las Vegas. He has two US Patents. The US Patent numbers are 6,862,429 and D452,391 for his invention along with Ed Efron. QSN merged with Virginia-based ADVANTURE Media to form ADVANTURE/QSN for which Harris acted as Vice-President of West Coast Operations.
His syndicated programs have been heard in over 200 markets worldwide. He has been an integral part of many broadcast success stories like KVGS, KOAS, KCEP, KiFM, XHRM, ABC, KGFJ, KMGC and many more. He has many years of major market programming expertise and is an excellent training and teaching type of manager. He is a transformational leader. He was also the Executive Producer of the local Emmy Award Winning Backstage Pass television programs and was a member of the Screen Actors Guild. He is an excellent leader as a powerful team member and team builder.
For five years Harris functioned as Production and IT Manager for Riviera Broadcast Group (RBG). With RBG, Harris was responsible for network administration, production, staff training, technical support, and overseeing all audio production for KVGS and KOAS in Las Vegas. He leads a ground breaking Internet Radio research project at www.groovinu.com. Harris has served on the Board of Advisors for Global Business Incubation (GBI) as Vice President of Communication and Information Technology for over fifteen years.
Harris has strong family values and he serves as a Deacon at New Assurance Baptist Church in San Diego. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Masters of Business Administration in E-Business from The University of Phoenix, Nevada Campus. Harris currently pursues a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at the University of Phoenix, Online.
